We are a pre-school called Project REACH which stands for Research and Education with Autistic Children. We are located on a public school campus but are federally funded. This program serves kids throughout our county that exhibit severe behaviors that fall under the broad diagnoses of autism spectrum disorder. Our teacher and two paraeducators provide us interventions in behavior modification and social language/communication. We all show delays in these areas but we also have delays in fine motor, pre-academic skills, and daily living skills. Each of us have an individualized education plan. Throughout the day we require visual schedules and strategies, sensory integration, reinforcement system, environmental arranging, and prompt system to support our program success. When we show success in this program we return to our base/local school with our newly learned skills so we can participate in our own environment and community.
