Imagine not given a way to communicate or access education. My name is Mrs. Hodaly-Ceravantes and I teach students who have physical and intellectual disabilities. My students need alternate ways to communicate and access the curriculum. The majority of my students have a nurse with them throughout the school day and some of them have a nurse that stays with them before and after school. My students need a lot of medical attention and need special ways to communicate and to access the currcilum. I have some students who can communicate by eye gaze or pointing to what they want. However, some of my students are unable to point, they are unable to communicate by eye gaze. Also, using a tablet such as an iPad is not always appropriate because they can't point their finger to touch an icon. My students need other ways to communicate and access the curriculum. We all deserve a way to communicate.
