My students are high school special needs students. Many of my students do not enjoy school, especially math class. Math is a subject that does not come easily for many students, especially students with special needs. Graphing calculators allow students to utilize technology to visualize the math. In this high tech world, students today NEED technology to learn in order for them to be successful in the future. Typically, my students are visual learners that need to SEE math in action, not just look at it on paper. Graphing calculators allow my students to see the lines, parabolas, scatter plots, etc. that are being created.
