We do not have any document cameras at our school. I was at a workshop back in the fall, and saw one being used and fell in love! I thought right away, my students would love this! I teach in a PK-5 grades with about 650+ students. Our school is very multicultural and I currently have 23 students and a full-time paraprofessional in my room on a daily basis. I have a wide variety of student needs in my class this year and a visually impaired student who would benefit from a document camera, big time! I would be able to use this camera in all subject areas throughout my teaching. My students would be using it as well as they are very visual and hands-on learners. With an Elmo document camera, lessons will become more engaging and alive for my students. I will be able to place paper, a book, or any kind of math manipulatives under the camera for students to see and use more clearly.
