Flexible seating allows students to have control over how they learn. School is no longer a place where students are expected to come in and sit in their chair all day. As teachers, we want students to be excited to come to school every day. When students are encouraged to make seating decisions about how they learn we are putting them in control. Research has shown that when students are given the option of flexible seating they will have increased attention spans, which increases achievement. I have included a variety of seating options for the students to use. The students in my needs based group will have stools to sit on. Within in the classroom the students will be able to choose between lap desks, stability balls, stability disks, beach chairs, camp chairs, and also some standing options. I will also need a place to store all of their belongings so I added the storage carts.
