History is alive in the people who have lived it. It is relatable to students when they read experiences about history through the eyes of a participant. In the book, Corrie Ten Boom relates her experiences in engaging text that students are able to relate to. Through the reading of her experience, students can gain insight in how truly people were impacted by the historical events of World War II. This curriculum crosses over to history as well as ELA. It helps bring this event to life for students and is followed up by a planned trip to Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum.
