Coding is an exciting new way to engage students in literacy, math and science instruction. Implementing coding in the regular classroom will encourage students to use critical thinking skills. Students will learn how to plan ahead and think through a series of steps. Coding can be used to teach everything. Bee Bot robots can even help students to learn sounds and sight words. Through coding my students will have opportunities to engage in conversations and ask questions to solve problems. Our school values social and emotional learning, but we need fun ways to teach these skills. Coding is the perfect opportunity for students to work in cooperative groups. So, students will be learning not only academics but also how to work together as a team. Students will be combining social skills with technology to make learning fun. These Bee Bots are robotic and engineering tools that are appropriate for kindergarten students. They will be used to teach number sense, letter recognition, story retelling and problem solving. These robots are a must in today’s 21st century classroom. Students will look forward to being able to use these coding robots throughout their day. My instruction and the use of coding activities may even encourage students to work in the technology field in the future. Your donation will go to work every day in our classroom.
