My students are kind-hearted, sweet children. They are gifted, and they are fighting for a chance to be great. They have big dreams they know will require hard work. Some have family members that went to university, but many do not. Most of my students can speak English and Spanish fluently, and at times, I can see them translating their answers in their head before they say them out loud. I teach students who are willing to help their desk neighbor, who hold open doors, and who say, "please" and "thank you." I am blessed. These children deserve blessings in return. We are a Title I school, indicating a high level of poverty among our population. I want to provide for them things that they would not otherwise have the opportunity to experience.
