My student-centered classroom is active and engaging. It is driven by meaningful projects, technology integration, goal setting and the freedom to ask lots of questions. Curiosity and interest guides our learning! In our Reading/Language-Arts classroom, the time spent lecturing is reduced and the time spent mentoring is increased. Students engage in more group discussions and regularly receive small group mentoring from me where I model good questioning and encourage students to ask questions. Students set and monitor their goals and are motivated by their interests and curiosity. Students use of technology in the classroom has changed the focus from the traditional, lecture style of teaching to a student-centered approach. Using technology has truly enhanced what's being taught in my classroom and enriched students learning experiences.
