My students are 9th and 10th grade students who are in a college prep ELA course. Most of my students' parents did not graduate high school. Many of my students are language learners and find little motivation inside the classroom. They are often more inclined to complete an activity when it is relevant to them so I strive to make connections between classroom activities (reading, assignment, content, etc.). My students are somewhat involved in extracurricular activities such as clubs and sports. My students are polite and respectful students who try to demonstrate an earnest effort. My school is 80% Hispanic, 12% Asian, 8% other such as Caucasian, Pacific Islander and African American. Our school is Title I and about 85% of our students receive free or reduced lunch. Our school facilities are very old and are currently in the process of modernization.
