At the end of the school year, after state testing is over, I love giving my students a creative outlet to finish out the year. My students learn about famous artists and the work they created. I love using Laurence Anholt's children's stories to read to my students and showing my students prints of the artwork created by some of the artists we study. Then, my students set off in a creative adventure as they use the same techniques, and many different art mediums, to recreate the artwork they learn about during the artist study. My students always comment on how much they enjoy creating art and parents comment on the educational value that is put in place at the end of the school year. My students will be able to learn about the history of art and the importance of the creative process. They will begin to see that "art is all around us!"
