My 30 2nd grade students range from Kinder-4th grade reading abilities. With a diverse background both socioeconomically and racially, my students thrive in a literacy rich classroom. At a school with 50% poverty, books are not always something they have access at home. Therefore, I inspire and encourage them to read, read, read and fall in LOVE with books. They often choose to read when their other responsibilities are fulfilled. Given a choice, most of my kids would "buddy read" all day! Their favorite books include Magic Tree House, Stink, Bad Kitty, Ramona, Flat Stanley, Frog and Toad, Skippy Jon Jones, A to Z Mysteries and many more. Our school is located in a suburban neighborhood of a big city in the Pacific Northwest.
