These materials will allow my students to utilize the grade level materials their peers are using but adapted to their needs. My students need visual cues and hands on elements to learn and remember key details of their grade level literature. Printing visuals and using velcro, students will read the page with the teacher and find the visual that matches the question posed. This allows the students to read the same books their peers are reading. The goal of this project is to accomodate our special needs students and allow them to learn and flourish in an environment better suited for their needs. The books will be utilized in a classroom environment one on one. The student will use the graphics and velcro to match the story elements and retell the story using the same literature their peers are using at the same time. These adaptations are so important to foster a feeling of community and inclusiveness.
