Our school is in a high poverty neighborhood and 96% of our 900 students are on free or reduced lunches. Last year our school grew from 400 to 900 students and many of my students are new and transitioning from bilingual classes, or they did not receive the instruction they needed to excel before this year. They are an extremely diverse group which brings so much excitement and fun to the classroom. I love watching them grow in leaps and bounds every day and I strive to provide differentiated instruction so that each student can succeed. Their love for reading grows quickly as they see themselves improve and set new goals for themselves. Instilling a life-long love for learning is my goal for these scholars!
