Over half of my students come from low income backgrounds and many don't have exposure to books and literacy as they should. We are starting a literacy continuum this year that is quite rigorous and requires teachers to provide the books for the students to read. K students are supposed to receive a minimum of 10 books to read each week. Here they are reading books on their IPads, but nothing can replace the feel of a real book in your hands
