"Funny in Farsi" is about an Iranian family that is transferred to America. Each chapter creates a humorous outlook on the differences in our cultures. Many of my students share very similar experiences as the main character. For example, many of my students have to translate for their families just as the main character has. In this comical and witty story, my students will see the similarities and differences of cultures and families, creating a new and exciting perspective on diversity. Having a copy for each student will allow students to read independently, while actively interacting with the text. Collaborating with their peers on their ideas and perspectives will foster engagement and respect for our classroom community!
