It is important for learning environments to be welcoming and kid-centered. Unfortunately, most classroom furniture is not set up to be kid friendly. I hope to change this in my classroom by offering flexible seating options to help students be comfortable in their learning environment and to meet the needs of individual learners. We don't teach with the mindset of "one size fits all" so why do we expect our classroom environments to be? With your help, I will be able to offer several different options of seating for students to choose to use based upon their unique needs and preferences. When students have choice they also have voice and that leads to empowerment in the classroom.
