In kindergarten, students are expected to spend a bulk of their time in small and whole group instruction. This instruction is focused on teaching various skills and strategies. As a teacher, I will use iPads to reinforce these skills such as the alphabet, sight words, and mathematics. Students will be able to use iPads while working independently, and they will be able to work co-dependently with another student. An iPad is an innovative tool that can provide for the different needs that a child may have. A teacher with a class of 30 students is limited in how she can cater to each child’s needs. The interactivity of iPads is especially advantageous to students who require a more hands-on learning approach. Moreover, iPads have the ability to track students’ progress, allowing them to learn at their own pace. Overall, the addition of iPads in my classroom will serve as a major catalyst in allowing my students to achieve regardless of their learning style or ability. My kindergarteners are courageous and well-deserving of these instruments of educational innovation.
