With these materials, my students will be able to put together an aquaponic system. This system will be used year round to teach our students about the nitrogen cycle, photosynthesis, animal science, technology, and sustainable farming methods. Students will monitor fish behavior, dissolved oxygen levels, nitrogen levels, pH and temperature on a daily bases. The food that is grown will be harvested by students and distributed to families every few months. This project will expose my students to aquaculture and farming. It combines math, chemistry, biology, environmental, and technology into a great hands on experience. Students learn best by doing and this is what this project offers my students.
