My students come from a low social and economic background . Few of them have access to books at home and even fewer pick up a novel for pleasure. I am hoping to create a fun and meaningful opportunity for students to get hooked on a life-long hobby of reading. With 30 copies of "The Egypt Game" and "Number the Stars", my students will be able to make connections to characters and their actions in history. Many of my students are unaware of the adventures a novel can take them on. Through reading and activities, I want my students to stretch their imagination and experience history.
