For this project, I chose enough nets for ALL students to be involved in activity! That is a MUST for physical education. 7 nets and 30 rackets. These two items will make for a great activity and plenty of movement for my students. I made sure to order nets that could be used indoor or outdoor. This will provide my students with an opportunity to experience badminton in either location.
This project will provide an opportunity for my students to learn a lifelong physical activity. As a physical educator is this a priority! Providing my students with skills and knowledge of continuing to be physical active after they leave my class is my daily goal!
This project also gives students the opportunity to work with a partner to compete in doubles badminton. We will also explore playing as a single player. This an activity that many students don't have the equipment for at home. This will broaden their scope of different partner and individual sports. As a physical education teacher, I enjoy teaching and introducing activities like badminton because students are on a even playing field. Badminton isn't as common as kickball, basketball, or football. It provides students, who maybe don't like typical PE team sports, a chance to be successful at a more unique activity.
