Our school is in an inner city area and provides a free college preparatory education with AP curriculum to students. The student population is formed through a public lottery and every student that applies has had the opportunity to attend. It is ranked among the best schools in the nation. Our school does not receive traditional funds for classroom supplies, and many teachers spend their own money to support classroom needs. We are a family of individuals that spend each day striving to reach our goals and to help the world become a better educated and more pleasant place to live.
My students are hard working, passionate, and hopeful. They are seeking the opportunity to attend a four-year university and live out their dreams. My students hope to be defined by their work ethic and education instead of their financial circumstances or race. Many of them come from an impoverished background and have families that want them to receive the best education that is available.
