Learning about immigration in the past and immigration today will help my students understand and appreciate their diverse cultures. With these books, I can have engaging whole class discussions through interactive read alouds. In addition, with the book collections, I will have the ability to meet with small groups of students who can read a book that is at their reading level. This will provide students the opportunity to engage in small group discussions about immigration which will enhance their own learning. As students understand the push and pull factors that affect immigration, as well as the challenges new immigrants face, they will have greater understanding and appreciation for the different cultures that make up our classroom and country.

About my class
