My students begin the very first day writing. Their writing might look like squiggles on a page. Some of my students can label a picture that they have drawn. Some of my students can even write a sentence about what they have drawn. They come from a wide range of socioeconomic backgrounds, as well as a wide range of preschool experience. They are excited about what the year will hold and all of the things they will learn during the year.
