My students are smart, artistic, musical, and athletic. They are Student Council officers, scouts, and active in their church. They flourish in a hands-on environment. You'd never know by looking at them that they all have a disability...They are all Dyslexic. Students with Dyslexia have difficulties with reading, writing and spelling. Audiobooks are a great tool for my students to help them read with their ears. Audiobooks allow children to read on or above grade level. Additionally, there are apps and extensions that will read what is on the screen to the student. Dyslexic students also need help with writing, and speech-to-text programs serve that function. In addition, typing helps those students who have difficulty with handwriting. Not only will the Chromebooks help with accommodations, but students will learn the necessary 21st Century skills for using technology.
