My first graders struggle with reading. The best way for them to practice is with books at their level. Most of them came to me from kindergarten not knowing their sight words and struggling readers. My classroom library lacks the lower books suitable for my learners. The books I do have at their level are falling apart. The best way for them to practice their reading is by listening to themselves practice and to have interesting books at their level. My students love to talk! With the whisper phones, they will be able to practice their vocabulary, reading and fluency while listening to their own voice.
