This year, I am focusing on teaching my students key elements of reading through novel studies. My goal with this style of teaching is to use tangible and engaging text to spark a desire for reading and learning. I know that when I can relate to what I am doing or it is truly engaging, I want and have a desire to work my hardest on it. With these three novel sets, I hope to achieve bridging my students world in this classroom and their community to the world around them. I want my students to be able to soar through the skies in a realm of magic and then walk alongside a girl in Sudan and hear her story. Books have amazing power and I hope through these books my students can develop a love for reading while gaining great reading skills.
