Students in my Highly Gifted 4th grade classroom are given an accelerated curriculum and allowed to stay with like mined peers all day. Students are selected for placement in this self-contained setting based on their identification as academically and intellectually gifted as well as their demonstrated need for a significantly differentiated program. Evaluation and test data provide evidence that the learning characteristics of the student require a separate program to meet his/her learning needs. All of our daily activities ask students to analyze, evaluate, and create to show learning. These students thrive with the use of technology. Our school is a magnet school with a STEM focus. We are also the hub for the Highly Gifted Program (HAG). We are a title 1 school that has 3 classes that are solely for students that require Transitional Bilingual Education.
