Kindergarten students need movement throughout the day. Can you imagine a kindergartner sitting in one spot for the school day? Even as an adult, it is difficult to sit in one spot for such a long time and give it our best effort, not to mention the hard, uncomfortable chairs. It would be extremely hard to focus. Each student is unique, shouldn't their seats be too? Movement helps stimulate the brain, acting as a reset or a recharge. Flexible seating would allow my students to move while learning, maximizing the learning opportunities. It would allow them to be comfortably engaged. Flexible seating would encourage them to be active learners and recharge when needed. Students would have the ability to choose where they feel most comfortable at and what works for them. Flexible seating would be motivation for making effective choices for their learning. Students would be able to choose a spot that motivates their best work possible throughout the entirety of the day. Instead of walking into a classroom and seeing the standard setup of rows of desks and chairs, students would be able to come into a welcoming classroom that instills a love for learning.
