My school serves every single 8th and 9th grade student in the entire Lake Stevens School District. As a Tech teacher I introduce students to a variety of tech including: programming, metrology, circuit building, nanotechnology, and videography. In most cases I am their first look in to emerging technologies. My students are typically not participants in band or in foreign language classes, due to scheduling. Consequently, I teach those students who may not have been introduced to their passion. My students are finding their place within their learning community. Tech opens doors to a myriad of career paths these students may not have even heard of or considered. My Computer Applications students learn to use Microsoft Office applications and test to earn Microsoft Industry Certifications. Students may earn free college credit in this class through Tech Prep, an agreement with our local college.
