Throughout the day, my class gathers together to engage in whole-group instruction. This designated area is used for shared reading time, as well as for learning at the board. The students listen, sing, dance, and solve problems together. Our current rug is small and damaged, posing a tripping hazard. Several in this class have not mastered the concept of personal space, and need a carpet that provides them a larger designated personal area to be successful in whole-group learning. When not in use for whole group instruction, the students gather on the carpet to read books or complete learning puzzles and games. Donations to my project will allow my students to have a more inviting and relaxing place to read as well as carpet space to comfortably learn and work together collaboratively during whole group instruction. The more engaged my students are in their reading and instruction, the more likely they are to be successful in all that they do.
