My ninth grade English students need ways to be flexible in the classroom. Our environment of learning is already mainly collaborative among students, and quite frankly, our desks are getting in the way of this. In a collaborative classroom, students need seats that foster this type of environment, and give them easy access to mobility around the classroom. I teach all levels of student - Honors, Regular, and Inclusion (SPED). All of my students are different, and have different needs. Some can sit in a standard desk, stay focused and on task, and be successful. Others need ways to have their sensory tasks fulfilled without causing a distraction to others, and staying on task. Flexible seating is the way to accomplish this. I am constantly reflecting on my classroom, and the environment I provide for my students' learning. This is the next step for my students. Please help them have an opportunity to continue their learning and education through collaboration and flexible seating!
