My second grade students hail from a working class city that has seen most of its factories and jobs disappear. A recent flood has left many homeless. This shrinking tax base has impacted funding to our schools, but hard working students and teachers helped our district receive an "Excellent" rating by the state for the 2011-2012 school year! The city has pulled together to offer shelter, food, and cleaning supplies for flood victims. It is this sense of community pride and hard-work ethic that make us known as the "Magic" city.

About my class
