Four-year-olds love to move! They are active, rambunctious balls of energy! Hokki stools and Jellyfish seating would increase my students' alertness and attention, allow them to direct their excess energy into staying balanced on their seats, and keep their bodies and brains engaged in learning! Bouncy Bands attach to the legs of regular chairs and also help children fidget without distracting others. Soft Seats and Backpatter's Seats would offer more alternatives for our classroom rug and help those who have trouble sitting still during stories and lessons. The Cube Chair would benefit children that have difficulty with spatial awareness, helping them understand where their bodies are in relation to others and objects around them. These resources would be used by all of my students in different areas of the classroom and would make a huge impact on their learning. Sitting "criss cross applesauce" or sitting still in a chair all day is not developmentally appropriate for a 4-year-old. These alternative seating options would create a comfortable yet active environment for my students while continuing to allow their sensory systems to develop and thrive.
