These news articles provide non-fiction text for students. Usually, this type of genre is missing in our curriculum. Our state testing is now 50% fiction and 50% non-fiction. They need this extra support to help them enjoy non-fiction. This will help supplement our core curriculum. It gives them the ability to check for understanding with the reading comprehension questions that are on the back page. These articles are really cool and the students really like them. They can relate to these everyday topics. They also like the graphing on the back page, which is a state standard and on their state testing.
