I am a special education teacher for students in grades K-4. All of my students have Individual Education Plans. They have developmental delays, learning disabilities, emotional disabilities, and other health impairments. My class focuses on bridging the gap to the regular education class. I provide direct and alternative instruction to my students following their grade level pacing guide. Accommodations and/or modifications are implemented to ensure access to the general curriculum. The same learning expectations for students in general education are expected of my learning disabled students. Although my students are challenged by learning disabilities and a lack of resources, they do not feel defeated. My students strive for the best regardless of all the negative challenges and stereotypes they face on a daily basis! My students work hard to make the most of what they have and to conquer their academics!
