These two class sets of books will allow my students to read and learn more about differences within families and also what it means to be a friend and take up for others. Sixth grade students are faced with many challenges in this year of learning. Bullying is something that almost every student will face at some point in their life. Reading "Freak the Mighty" will bring the topic to the surface and will engage in many different conversations. "Hatchet" will show the students that anything is possible if they put their minds to it. My class would love, learn and appreciate these books for many years to come.
