Imagine the feeling of curling up with a good book. You are relaxed and comfortable, engaged in what you're reading. You're in a cozy spot in a place that feels like home. This is the environment my students want to create in their classroom this year. We have spent a great deal of time talking about our learning environment, trying out different seats and areas of the room. The number-one thing my students requested this year to help themselves as learners was soft seating. My second graders are learning what works best for them and I want to give each of them the opportunity to feel at home in our space together.
