I would like to purchase playground equipment that will be inclusive and accessible to all of our students, increase our students’ team-building skills, promote cooperation amongst others, develop gross and fine motor skills, increase flexibility and balancing skills, improve coordination, and support sensory needs. In the days of Marzano-based instruction, students are increasingly expected to work together in class, but they don’t necessarily have the same opportunity to play together on our existing playground equipment. I would like to purchase equipment for whole-group and small-group games such as Kickball, Four Square, and Soccer to promote cooperative play. Also, an increasing number of our students have disabilities that severely limit their access to our playground equipment, so we would like to provide materials for them to use during recess so that they may enjoy their play time as well. Games like Lawn Bowling, Giant Jenga, Scoop Ball, and Giant Dominoes will allow students who cannot walk across our mulch or climb on our existing playground equipment to have fun during recess too. I have asked for cones for students to use during games to mark boundaries to help students mark their spots during games, particularly circle games. I would like to purchase jump ropes, activity scarves, foam ring toss game and sidewalk chalk to promote creative play.
