We have three whole class novels during the school year that I want to support by creating student led book clubs. These books relate to our whole class novels and units through theme, writing style, types of characters, and genre. I believe these high interest middle grade books will captivate my kids and develop lifelong readers. Many of my students love reading, but sadly some do not. However, with interesting books and great series, I fully believe we can change that this year! Books by Kwame Alexander will be used during our final unit of the year where we read poetry, The Outsiders, and talk about having compassion. These novels in verse is a perfect fit! If students fall in love with reading, there are many books by this author or similar in some way I can guide my students towards.
