I have been teaching in the Altoona Area School District since 2010 in various teaching roles. This year I taught Kindergarten for the first time and loved it, however, due to the size of this class, I will be moving on to first grade with them next year! I'm excited to be returning to 1st grade for the 2018-2019 school year and to have the privilege to teach some of my kiddos for a second year! In my classroom this year, I have just over half of my students qualifying for free and reduced lunches, but despite what could have been adverse circumstances we were able to finish the year with 91% reading on or above grade level. Being a teacher of reading is my strength, but this year we will be launching a new STEM curriculum. I am being intentional about incorporating extra STEM opportunities whenever possible to challenge myself and my students!
