Children often have difficulties working through and regulating their emotions. They do not have enough opportunities to explore healthy ways to respond to strong emotions, such as anger, disappointment, fear, and sadness. Many times, students are sent out of the room when their emotions become overwhelming, causing them to miss valuable class time and learning opportunities. By giving each classroom a sensory calm-down box, filled with various tactile tools, students can learn to self-regulate their emotions with the help of these sensory objects, all while staying in the classroom. As a result, students will be more resilient, develop better social relationships, as well as have academic success.

About my class
