We need a variety of seating options in our classroom that will allow students to move and wiggle while they do their work, relax and focus as they read, and be comfortable and on task in variety of areas during independent work. Flexible seating in my classroom will benefit my students by allowing them to get their wiggles out while still allowing them them to focus and learn. Studies have shown that adding a flexible seating option to a classroom increases focus in students and allows their brains to focus better. The yoga balls at desks will allow students movement in their lower bodies while their upper bodies are still and focused on school work. Beanbags and floor cushions will give students opportunities to work in places other than their desks.
