The sixty-five 8th graders in my English classes are a wonderfully diverse, creative and hard working group. They represent dozens of countries from throughout the world, and some of them are recent learners of the English Language. Our middle school has 6-8th graders and is in one of the few more urban cities in Maine. The students in our school are very close-knit, compassionate and energetic. They are also very community-focused and interested in ecology and the environment. One goal they have is to make our classroom as paperless as possible. We will also soon embark on a project that will help teach our community about rain barrels and water conservation.
