My students have been through a traumatic event and often times find it difficult to focus or self regulate. Having flexible seating and a laptop in the classroom can help us heal from the trauma. Allowing them to have wobble chair as a choice will enhance their learning experience. This provides them with an optimal learning experience that engages all learning styles. Providing them with a laptop will allow them to practice calming and mindfulness techniques. My students are affected daily because of Hurricane Harvey. I find them wandering off, not focused, and often emotional due to the unpredictable weather.
