In kindergarten, we begin the magic of learning to read. A lot of my students do not feel confident in their ability to do this. They are very strong with their sound and letter knowledge, but they are often nervous to put the sounds together to read.
"I don't know how to read," is often said in my class- I want my students to get out of this mindset. This project will build their confidence and show them that they really are capable of reading. The books that I have asked for will be paired with the phones.
Students will be able to whisper into the phone and hear exactly what they are reading. It is an amazing tool for both small group and whole group instruction. I have asked for a class set of these phones as well as a variety of books to meet the needs of my various learners.
All of the other items I have asked for will help my students develop various reading skills such as phonics and comprehension. These items would be a great blessing in helping my students find the confidence to read.
