Teaching in an inner city district comes with many challenges. One of these challenges is keeping all students actively engaged during writing whole group lessons and writing time. Some students are fine sitting in desks, but most of my students work well when they have a flexible seating choice. As our society and needs of our students change, so should the look of the classroom. I want all students to be engaged and ready to learn during writing time. I feel with the very limited flexible seating choices I have now, it is hard to do that. My students love flexible seating and my most difficult behaviors benefit from being in a comfortable space. It will hopefully increase productivity in our classroom!
