Flexible seating allows for many benefits for student learning. Students can have controlled choice where they work and allows them to change locations if needed. This allows for a more comfortable environment where students can be less distracted, more calm, and work more productively. The materials that I have chosen will also stimulate students' sense of touch. This sensory input can help students focus and process information. With our new Units of Study reading and writing curriculum launching, I want to make sure students are comfortable when I send them off to practice new skills throughout the school day. I can also promote a better sense of community through the benefits of flexible seating. Students not only get to choose where they are most comfortable, but they can also choose whom to collaborate with or if they need to be working alone.
