The book boxes are a simple yet effective way to make students more responsible and organized. Simply put, my students will take deeper pride in their work if their class materials are organized in an appealing way. Another advantage to using attractive storage boxes for books is that a Table Monitor job is created for students who either crave being the "teacher's helper," or who have trouble sitting still. Table Monitors can "get the wiggles out" by retrieving and returning the book boxes, without fear of getting into trouble for moving around the classroom. By color coding each of my 5 classes, every student will know exactly where their books should go. This cuts down on time spent distributing materials, and more time can be spent learning and having fun!
