Flexible seating is a great way to allow my Special Education students to take charge of their learning experience. When working independently, students can choose a style of seating that work best to help them focus and stay on task. Unfortunately, my current options are limited to tables and chairs or a couch (which is my personal piece of furniture I brought from home), or laying on the floor. I have noticed a huge difference in my students when they sit on the couch - more focused, less jittery and clearly more comfortable. Unfortunately, we have to take turns as there isn't enough of the couch to go around... ...which is why I asking for help! The seating I've chosen will help my students by giving them more control and giving comfort. Almost all of my students have students have sensory needs, and something soft or wiggly is just what they need to stay focused! When my students feel comfortable, they are much more motivated to learn. I know that these options will make a big difference in their ability to learn, and I thank you in advance for helping us create a more engaging classroom for my students.
